Wow, I find very few restaurants to rave about but all the food we had here was outstanding. All the food was delicious but the sauce for the meats was unbelievable. Our group tried chicken, beef and shrimp, and I sampled all of them. Each unique and flavorful.
What a wonderful surprise! Just stumbled across this place at lunch time on a Thursday. The atmosphere was quiet and had the perfect music playing. The food and selections were incredible. I had sea bass seared with a light butter capers sauce, delicious, delicious. My husband's choice was soup and salad. But wait, the roasted garlic cream soup was the "best soup he's ever had in his life". Wow, and he's had 70 years of eating.
I've lived in Athens for 20 years and Girasoles is my favorite. Great selection. Don't see what you like on the menu, just tell them what you'd like and the chief, Jose, will cook you up a VIP special just for you. Everything has been a taste treat. Five Stars maybe even Six.

The crepes are made fresh as are waffles, crepes and pancakes. Add fresh blue berries, pecans or chocolate chips and served with caramel sauce.
We both highly recommend this gem. We are going back Sunday to try Chef José brunch.

Girasoles is THE place to eat if you are in the Athens/Watkinsville area. The menu is prepared using local and in season ingredients. If you would like a different twist on a menu item or just don't see what you're craving on the menu, the wonderful chef and owner will concoct a plate just for you! My husband and I were lucky enough to have had a cooking lesson with the chef several years back. It was a wonderful learning experience that I cherish to this day! We've been eating here when we are in town since he opened his doors! I can't say enough excellent words about Girasoles.
